Position Overview: We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Electrical Trades Assistant to support our team in the installation, maintenance, and repair of battery systems. The successful candidate will assist in a variety of tasks related to battery technologies, including energy storage systems, battery management systems (BMS), and other related electrical components. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain specialised experience in the rapidly growing field of battery technology and renewable energy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist electricians in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of battery systems, including lithium-ion, lead-acid, and other types of batteries.
• Support the setup and connection of battery management systems (BMS) and other monitoring devices.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance of battery banks, ensuring proper voltage levels, connections, and overall system health.
• Assist in testing and commissioning new battery installations, following detailed procedures and protocols.
• Handle, transport, and store batteries and related components safely, following all safety guidelines.
• Prepare tools, materials, and equipment for battery installation and maintenance projects.
• Help with the disassembly and disposal of old or faulty batteries in accordance with environmental regulations.
• Maintain a clean and organised workspace, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
• Work closely with licensed electricians and engineers to diagnose issues and perform repairs on battery systems.
• Follow all safety procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to lockout/tagout protocols.
• Assist with the documentation of work performed, including recording test results and updating maintenance logs.
• Provide general support to the electrical team as needed, including assisting with other electrical tasks outside of battery systems when required.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience or training in electrical work, particularly with battery systems, is preferred but not required.
• Basic understanding of electrical principles, particularly as they relate to battery technology and energy storage systems.
• Familiarity with tools and equipment used in electrical and battery system work.
• Ability to read and interpret basic electrical schematics and diagrams.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
• Physically capable of lifting and moving heavy batteries and equipment.
• Good communication skills and a willingness to learn from experienced electricians and engineers.
